The colors in the rose images really "pop" against the dark background. Is the yellow rose really yellow? Or did you play with the colors in the red rose image?
For the image of the kids toys another option might have been to zoom in until just the tricycle was in the frame. The colors are more intense and seem to pull most of the focus in the fame anyway.
